Campaign use case

A mystery shopper alternative: hear from real customers every day

A mystery shop gives you one person's view of one visit. A QR code question at every location gives you real customers' views of ordinary days, all month. KudoTaps runs the same question at each site and lists the locations biggest opportunity first, so you know where to send your area manager or your next mystery shopper.

The problem

Why this is hard today

One visit is a small sample

A mystery shopper sees a site for twenty minutes on one day. A good or bad shift can swing the whole score.

Results arrive weeks later

The report comes back after the staff on that shift have moved on, and the moment to coach them has gone.

You cannot afford to shop every site often

With dozens of locations, each one gets visited a few times a year at most. The gaps in between are where things slip.

How it works

How mystery shopper alternative works with KudoTaps

1

Turn your audit question into a customer question

Take the thing your mystery shoppers score most often and ask it directly: "Were you greeted when you came in?" or "Was your order right?". Up to 120 characters.

2

Put a code at every location

One Satisfaction Check campaign gives each location its own code and poster. Place it where the visit ends: the till, the table, the exit.

3

Watch the per-location table

The report lists locations biggest opportunity first, with the positive rate, the good, okay and poor counts, and the latest comments.

4

Send people where the data points

Use the top of the table to decide which sites get a manager visit, coaching or a targeted mystery shop.

What you get

What you get

✓

Every day, not every quarter

Customers answer whenever they visit, so results build up continuously rather than once per audit.

✓

Real customers, ordinary days

Answers come from the people actually using the location, on busy shifts and quiet ones.

✓

Comments in the customer's words

Customers can add a comment after tapping a face. These sit in the report and the inbox, tied to the location.

✓

Biggest opportunity first

The per-location comparison puts the sites with the most room to improve at the top.

✓

Change the focus without reprinting

Switch the question from greeting to speed to cleanliness whenever you like. Every code updates and the posters stay up.

Frequently asked questions

Does this fully replace mystery shopping?

Not for everything. A trained shopper can check procedures a customer never sees, like whether a staff member offered an upsell or followed a script. Customer feedback tells you how the visit felt. Many teams use the feedback to decide where to send their shoppers.

Will customers really answer?

More will answer one tap than a long form. Placement matters most: put the code where people wait or finish, and check the share of scans that answered in the report.

Can staff game it by voting themselves?

There is no sign-in, so nothing technically stops someone tapping repeatedly. Each scan records city, country and device type, and a sudden run of identical answers is usually easy to spot. Treat results as a trend over weeks.

Can I ask about a specific shift or staff member?

Answers are tied to the location and the time, not to a person. You can ask about something staff-specific in the question, but you will not get answers split by employee.

What does it cost compared with a mystery shopping program?

Campaigns are on the Marketing plan at $29 per location per month, with a 14-day free trial on your first paid plan. Mystery shopping prices vary by provider, so compare against your own quotes.
